Halloween Special 2 – Roberta Williams’ Phantasmagoria Deep Dive

Almost thirty years ago Sierra released Phantasmagoria which what would go on to be their most controversial game of all time. At the time Robert Williams was best known for her family friendly King’s Quest games so it was quite a shock to see her make an adult horror game which included a controversial rape scene and plenty of gore. This was Sierra’s most ambitious and most expensive production which caused many challenges for the cast and crew to film and produce and as a result was delayed several times before eventually being released on August 24th 1995.

In this special Halloween episode Seoirse, drawing on information online, from the official Sierra Guidebook for Phantasmagoria and his own conversations with actor David Lee Homb and Roberta Williams herself, gives some background details on the origins, filming, production and release and reception of the game. He also gives some interesting facts about the filming of the game and he gives his own non spoiler and spoiler filled review of the game.
