There are so many excellent adventure games out there, and the Steam winter sale can be pretty overwhelming with just how much is discounted, so we’ve put together a guide full of great games that are vouched for by the podcast team, and all have a discount of 75% or better! Click any game’s name to go to that game’s Steam page, and after each game we’ve given the sale discount. Happy Holidays!
Comedy
If you’re looking for a laugh, then definitely check out Later Alligator (85%), Four Last Things (75%), Bertram Fiddle (86%), Lancelot's Hangover (80%), Paradigm (75%), Nine Noir Lives (75%), and Time Gentlemen Please / Ben There Dan That (75%).
I Keep Hearing About…
This is a bit subjective, but there are a few modern adventure games it feels like people talk about or bring up a lot. To join in those conversations, it’s a great time to pick up Firewatch (90%), Inside / Limbo (91%), every Walking Dead game (75%) ...or just the first one (90%), To The Moon (80%), What Remains of Edith Finch (75%), Disco Elysium (75%), and all the Syberia games (87%).
Puzzle-heavy
For some great discounted games to get the cogs turning, there’s The Witness (75%), Puzzle Agent 1 (80%) and 2! (80%), The Sexy Brutale (75%), and The Room series (80%).
Just Came Out!
We were amazed to see some great discounts on games that only came out in 2023! Check out Homebody (75%), Agatha Christie: Murder on the Orient Express (75%), 13:ORIGIN (88%), and TEEFAX (80%).
Traditional Point and Click
For some excellent modern games in a traditional style, there’s Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard (75%), Detective Di (77%), Voodoo Detective (75%) and Milkmaid of the Milky Way (75%). Or if you really just need the classics, everyone agrees that the remasters of Day of the Tentacle (75%), Full Throttle (75%) and Grim Fandango (75%) are great!
Casual
After a nice, breezy game you can just pick up and play whenever? Then Agent A (90%), Down in Bermuda (90%), TOEM (80%), and Creaks (80%) are what you want!
Studio Specific
Two adventure studios in particular grabbed our attention with their sales. Firstly you can get everything Amanita Design have done (85%). Amanita make delightful little dialogue-free 2D games, and they’re all beautiful and great. Secondly, Wales Interactive specialise in cheesy FMV games. In our opinion, some are great and some are duds. It’s definitely worth checking out Late Shift (76%) and The Complex (77%). After that, opinions differ, but some people also really like Bloodshore (87%), Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus (80%), and The Shapeshifting Detective (82%).
One More Thing…
Not enough high quality, discounted adventure games for you? Well here’s a bunch more that couldn’t quite fit into the other categories! Detective Grimoire (80%), Tangle Tower (80%), Hypnospace Outlaw (76%), Not For Broadcast (75%), Road 96 (75%), In Other Waters (75%), and everything to do with The Book of Unwritten Tales series (80%).
